As the first Modular Build-to-Rent scheme in London, O’Keefe proved why we are the industry leaders in traditional / modular collaborative deliver.
Project Overview:
Client: Essential Living
Type of Works: Site Clearance, Ground Remediation, Substructure, RC Slipform Core
Value: £9m
Project Start Date: September 2016
Location: Greenwich, London
The brownfield site on the boarders of Greenwich and Deptford in South East London has become a leading example of high-rise modular apartment living. This was all made possible through some innovative techniques by O’Keefe to remediate the land and utilise the current ground conditions before beginning the build stage.
Once underway, the site was developed with a basement car park, a concrete podium entrance and 2 slipform cores of 11 and 24 storeys tall. During works it was essential that the tolerances on the cores were in line with the specification of the modules to ensure a correct fixing and that was checked using drones and point cloud surveys at every level. At the time of the works we had Europe’s tallest freestanding crane installed to assist with the cores but also in preparation of the modules arriving.
Union Wharf as it is now known is made up of 249 one to three-bedroomed apartments in two tower blocks with 800m2 of commercial floor space including a nursery and 1,400m2 of shared amenity space including exercise areas, communal lounges and has been successful in a number of industry awards.
