Group marks 10,000 hazard card submissions in its What IF? campaign.

Specialist contractor the O’Keefe Group is celebrating a Health and Safety milestone by notching up 10,000 hazard cards since the start of its What IF? campaign nine months ago.

The cards have been submitted by the group’s own 200+ employees throughout its four divisions (London, Kent, Demolition and Plant) as well as site visitors and clients, by hand or via the group What IF? hazard awareness app.

They were introduced as part of the group’s overarching Health and Safety campaign to identify good practice within its environments and to register any potential hazards at the earliest possible stage to mitigate the possibility of any incidents.

The campaign was promoted in a series of specially-commissioned posters and leaflets and electronic signage, highlighting the need for all members of staff, as well as partners and stakeholders, to take personal responsibility for their Health and Safety.

Group CEO Patrick O'Keefe said: "Not only does each card demonstrate commitment to our What IF? campaign and Health and Safety strategy, it also provides us with valuable information regarding Health and Safety around our business.

“The cards highlight trends that allow us to look for important improvements and change or indeed raise concerns where needed. We resist complacency and will never assume we have created an environment entirely free from danger.

“Every member of staff, client and site visitor is made aware of What IF? as part of our four core values of safety, quality, programme certainty and commercial success, as we strive towards our goal of creating a working environment where everyone goes home safely.”

Data within the 10,000 entries has also identified some hidden gems within the group in terms of those people who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to submitting hazard cards.

Patrick added: “Those hazard heroes who have helped to drive the campaign and have grabbed it by the horns will be rewarded and celebrated for their dedication and consistency in always looking to improve Health and Safety.”
