A True Hero…

On Friday, our low loader driver Steve Ashdown stopped at a junction on the A205 south circular waiting for the lights to change. Before pulling away, Steve checked his mirrors and then noticed an object at the front of his lorry so got out to investigate, only to find a little girl, no older than 2 years of age with her toy pram and no guardian in sight.

Thinking quickly, Steve carefully manoeuvred his lorry and trailer across the lanes to block any oncoming traffic, protecting the little girl from being hit by any oncoming traffic and went to see if he could find her guardian. With no success, Steve was able to flag down a police officer a few moments later who took over the situation. They highly commended Steve for his actions.

Sadly a few motorists, in the rush to get on with their daily lives, took it upon themselves to show their aggression towards Steve. We all get caught up in the rush of work and daily life, but it just goes to show how important it is that we slow down, give time and consideration for others.

We all think Steve is a true hero and we hope you do too!
